BJ - our nominee for NZRDA Horse of the Year

BJ is a well known local character admired for his honesty and kind temperament.  He was ridden at pony club and did eventing, show hunter and show jumping, often with a less than experienced rider and always clearing the jumps as requested.

We purchased him approximately eight years ago and he has adapted seamlessly to therapeutic riding work.  BJ has a special relationship with two riders here.  One is with a blind rider who now rides him independently with a coach guiding.  BJ responds to this rider quite intuitively and will stop trotting as soon as they become tense.

The second is with an adult rider with multiple sclerosis.  BJ again changes his gait and behaviour to fit his rider.  For this rider he will turn from leg aides only, alter his pace according to the rider's energy level and do perfect flexion work.
